SUMMER JAZZ 2009

The smooth sounds of Jazz continue this summer at The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club's 24th annual "SummerJazz on the Gulf" free concert series. Gorgeous sunsets, beautiful views of the Gulf, and refreshing breezes provide the perfect backdrop for the fun free concert series held on the resort's scenic Watkins Lawn overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. "SummerJazz on the Gulf" takes place one Saturday evening per month from 7 - 10 p.m. beginning in June. This year's concerts will be on Saturday, June 13; Saturday, July 18; Saturday, August 22; and Saturday, September 19, 2009.  Our featured jazz artists are listed below.

There will be free parking, just north of the hotel at Lowdermilk Park with free trolley service running to and from the resort. Guests may bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating, however coolers are not permitted. Late Night Brass

The Late Night Brass, a great 10 piece jazz group from Tampa Bay, offers the signature sounds of High-Wattage Horns that can be heard on just about every song they perform. Late Night Brass is reminiscent of the most famous horn bands of all time: Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, Blood Sweat & Tears. Upfront they feature a powerful 4-piece Horn Section: Saxophone, 2 Trumpets and Trombone and are backed by a driving 4-piece Rhythm Section: Keyboard, Guitar, Bass and Drums. The band is led by a dynamic Male Vocalist and a fabulous Female Vocalist. Each musician is an exciting soloist with the ability to ignite the crowd.

Women’s Blues Revue

The Women’s Blues Revue is a popular repeat group for SummerJazz. This 9 piece, all woman band has been a mainstay on the Florida music scene since it was founded in 1996 by guitarist Patty Sanphy. Jump blues, R & B, and funky old soul keep their fans boogyin' at their regular shows at Skipper's Smokehouse in Tampa, The 5 O'Clock Club in Sarasota, and The Largo Cultural Center. They are also popular on the regions' festival circuit, with a resume including The House of Blues (Orlando), Springing the Blues (Jacksonville), Rock Crusher Canyon Blues Festival (Crystal River), and Mainsail Arts Festival (St. Petersburg.)

Big Night Out

Big Night Out is a dance band from Sarasota Florida who performs Latin, Caribbean, Funk and Motown dance music. The 7 piece band performs for concerts, festivals, night clubs and private functions. So if you are looking for some lively entertainment with rockin' horns, a pulsating conga and great Bi-lingual female vocals, then don’t miss Big Night Out. They have become one of southwest Florida's most exciting new dance bands on the scene. The band's lineup includes many of Sarasota and Tampa's finest musicians.
